Friday (26)- Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?!

For those who have been following along in the pages of the Cooper's world you will remember that upon our arrival in Beaumont, TX we were warmly embraced by our new Beaumont family at NewSong Covenant Church. Throughout our week of transition into parenthood (FYI there was no transition it was just "You are now Parents"...but it sounds more pleasant to say that we spent a week transitioning... I digress.) we were emailed and called by those in the church community. As if that were not enough, we were invited for a church "dinner for 8" on Friday evening. Friday night we quickly learned (as did the others) that "dinner for 8" was simply a saying as the masses (16?) descended upon the home of Phil and Georgia. What a blessing to be welcomed into this family oriented group?! So much so, that upon our arrival Ben (this being his first social outing) was soon dubbed the guest of honor and immediately hugged, kissed, fed and loved on as if he were they own. It was exactly what Sunni and I needed...and Ben, well he was 3 weeks old...(he really just needed someone to burp him:) ). We left the home of Ben's "grandparents" feeling encouraged and excited about the future of this fledgling church. If they continue this open door mentality to people in their community, the love of God will surely be felt by all. Many thanks to those who attended the evening and made an imprint on the pages of our adoption story.
Oh, and I think the name of the monthly meal should be changed to "Guess Who is Coming for Dinner?" (you never quite know who will show up)
